colour theory

Coming soon! – I will have some work at Colour Theory, a joint exhibition showing the work of several makers/craftspeople represented by the CAA. Opening on Friday 19th March at Contemporary Applied Arts, 89 Southwark Street, London SE1 it will be on until the 21st April – so come along.

Over the past few weeks I have been making some new woven pieces for this exhibition. Prompted by my walks in the Thames estuary from Tilbury out towards the sea. This is a landscape of big skies and flat marshland where the shifting light and the ebb and flow of the tidal river mean that colours are constantly changing.

At low tide the mud flats reveal the collected debris of centuries of human traffic on the river and along the banks the rusting and concrete remnants of past endeavours create a landscape layered with history and an unique atmosphere.
