Silk and paper yarn dyed with madder.

My original thought had been to dye the yarns I am using for the woven pieces for Forty Hall with dyes extracted from plants growing in the Forty Hall estate however autumn, when all plant life is dying back, is probably not the best time to do this so the plants that are suitable for dying have not been producing very vibrant colours. So I have been experimenting with other plant dyes that would have been used at the time of Nicholas Rainton up until the introduction of chemical dyes in the 19th century.
