dying experiments

I’ve been dying some yarns with dyes from plants found in the Forty Halls gardens, Walnut, nettle and blackberries. Next week I will be dying a warp a russet brown colour for a piece to be hung in the house and I need to make sure I get the recipe right.

3 parts walnut, 1 part blackberry (note the seeds on the cloth), produce a different shade on different yarn, from the top wool, rayon, linen, wool and paper yarn, the warp is cotton which hasn’t taken on much colour at all.
